A study of the switching process a short (1 mm) gas gap initiated by spark discharge along dielectric surface was carried out method shadowgraphy with nanosecond time resolution. The presence shock wave propagating from cathode spot and signs intermediate accumulation invested energy in form excitation molecules or turbulent flow were detected.
